daily natter..

Something I heard on the BBC today which made me believe that China is certainly on the way to becoming the next super power!
Just when you thought that a Chinese person can never get fat, China is hit by an obesity crisis. It is estimated that 18 million people in China are clinically obese and children are hit worse. Obesity is a sign of industrialisation and a shift in the diet from conventional to a more westernised form. Currently, summer camps are trying hard to educate children and train them to shed off the extra pounds. (hmmm..sounds familiar)

On another note, H. H. Pope Shenouda III of the Coptic church in Egypt decided not to celebrate his 83rd birthday as a sign of modesty... (No comment)

Matters of nationality

I was appaled to read this from Dr. M Albusairi in Alqabas paper today:

Excuse me:

what about the children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaiti men?

if nationality is passed on by blood-relation, since when a non-Kuwaiti widower is entitled to a Kuwaiti identity...?
